Festivals bring people together, offering a break from the everyday and providing a chance to refresh the mind, body, and spirit. They also serve to educate and reinforce a sense of community. One such example is Ganesh Chaturthi, a Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of the beloved elephant-headed god, Lord Ganesha.
Known as the god of wisdom, prosperity, and intelligence, Lord Ganesha is also revered as the remover of obstacles and the deity of new beginnings. During the festival, his presence is believed to grace the earth, bestowing wisdom and clearing away all difficulties. Because he came back to life with an elephant's head, he is also known by the names Gajanana, Gajadanta, and Vighnaharta.
This year, Fertilizernagar School celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi with great devotion over five days. The entire school community, including students and staff, participated with enthusiasm.
A beautiful idol of Lord Ganesha, crafted from natural clay, was installed at the school. The peaceful atmosphere of the GSFC Township was preserved as students and staff performed aartis and prayers each morning and evening. Following the daily prayers, prasad was distributed to all.
The festival concluded with an eco-friendly visarjan. Instead of immersing the idol in a river or larger body of water, it was gently dissolved in a large container filled with water, right in the center of the school grounds.
