Fertilizernagar School observed Vasant Panchami on January 23, 2026, with great devotion and cheerful spirit.
The day is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the symbol of wisdom, knowledge, music, and arts. It is believed that she manifested on this auspicious occasion. On this day, students, teachers, musicians, and artists offer prayers and perform Saraswati Puja to seek her blessings for wisdom and success. The celebration becomes even more vibrant as everyone dresses in yellow, a color that represents prosperity, positivity, and the arrival of spring.
Also known as Basant Panchami, the festival marks the onset of spring, often called the “King of Seasons.” It falls on the fifth day of the bright half of the Hindu month of Magh, usually in late January or early February. According to mythology, Lord Brahma created the universe on this sacred day.
Vasant Panchami is celebrated with different traditions across the country. In eastern India, particularly in West Bengal and Bihar, it is observed as Saraswati Puja with elaborate rituals. In Punjab and other northern states, people celebrate by flying colorful kites. In Rajasthan, wearing jasmine garlands is a special custom of the day. The festival also marks the beginning of preparations for Holika Dahan and Holi, which are celebrated forty days later.
